| Peter Barker - President |
Hi warm welcome everyone, my name is Peter Alan Barker and I have been deaf all my life. I believe in development of visual language New Zealand sign language which I use my hands everyday to communicate with everyone. I have two children who both are hearing and my partner is deaf also. In my family we use New Zealand Sign Language to communicate which we all value along with our Deaf culture. I am also a tutor of NZSL which I have been doing for the past 19 years.

My name is Leanne Eichler and I am nearly 21. I am currently doing Vet Nursing at UCOL and I started learning NZSL in my second to last year at high school. I learned more every year which lead me to become a carer for a child with Down syndrome which needed me to use my skills to communicate. I enjoy working with children and I feel that need all the help they can get to communicate and deserve it!
